Evette Jones – Family Lawyer Who Balances Strength With Empathy

Special Counsel

Accredited Specialist in Family Law and Collaborative Law Solicitor

Evette is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and a trained Collaborative Law solicitor, with more than two decades of experience helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most challenging transitions since her admission to practice in Tasmania in 2004.

Evette’s clients describe her as practical, compassionate, and genuinely committed to their best interests. She combines legal expertise with a cost-effective, client-focused approach, ensuring clients feel informed, supported, and confident at every stage of their matter.

Why Evette Chose Family Law

Evette was drawn to family law even during her university years, captivated by its constant evolution as an area of legal practice. As society changes, so too does the concept of what constitutes a family, making the work both challenging and deeply meaningful.

She believes every family deserves to feel seen, respected, and supported, regardless of its structure or background — a belief that continues to shape the way she practises today.

What It's Like To Work With Evette

Working with Evette means working with someone who recognises the unique circumstances of every family. She is known for her ability to provide practical, compassionate advice and to help clients move forward with confidence and clarity, even amid emotionally and financially demanding circumstances.

Evette is also a passionate advocate for collaborative practice — a voluntary, team-based approach to resolving family law matters that shifts the focus away from litigation and toward working constructively with a former spouse or partner. The process takes place through a series of structured meetings in which everyone commits to respectful communication and the open exchange of information. A key feature is the signing of a participation agreement by the parties and their solicitors. Together, clients identify the issues that need to be resolved, explore the options available, and work toward outcomes that reflect their family’s unique circumstances. If the collaborative process does not result in an agreement, the collaborative lawyers are unable to act in future Court proceedings — encouraging all participants to stay focused on resolution.

Away From Work

Outside the office, Evette is an avid foodie who is always on the lookout for a great restaurant and loves sharing good food with family and friends. She’s also a passionate football (soccer) supporter — although these days, you’ll find her cheering her two kids from the sidelines of junior matches rather than at professional matches.
